(Reuters) – Walt Disney (NYSE:) Co announced on Monday that it is offering a one-month subscription of Disney+ at $1.99, in an attempt to stop a decline in the paid user growth for its streaming service.
Disney announced in astatement that this promotion will run from Nov. 8 through Nov. 14. It will also be available for new eligible return subscribers to the United States of America and other countries.
Disney charges $7.99 per monthly for streaming service in the United States. Recently, Disney hinted that there might be a slower growth of subscribers to Disney+. This could lead to rare Wall Streetdowngrade.
Disney+ has the “Star Wars”, “Avengers” franchises within its portfolio. It gained more subscribers in the COVID-19 pandemic, when theater closings led to more people turning to digital streaming for entertainment.
The company announced that it will offer other benefits, including early access to its parks, as part of promotions celebrating the two-year anniversary of Disney+.
Disney will announce its fourth-quarter results this Wednesday.
