Dollar Down as Investors Grapple With Recent Central Bank Policies -Breaking

Investing.com – The dollar was down on Monday morning in Asia, making a steady start to the week but remaining below the peaks it hit on Friday. The investors continue to seek a compromise between volatile market projections for interest rates and the recentdovish central bank monetary policy moves.

By 12:24 PM ET (04:24 GMT), the that monitors the greenback against other currencies fell 0.01%.

This pair edged up 0.9% to 113.61

Both the pair dropped 0.10% to 0.7394, while the other pair rose by 0.07% and 0.7120.

It was at 6.3979.

The Chinese Communist Party’s Central Committee will start its first meeting in more than a year on Monday. It will continue until Nov. 11.

The pair edged down 0.13% to 1.3477, bouncing back from Friday’s five-week low of $1.3425 on Friday.

When the Bank of England decided to keep interest rates at 0.1%, the pound suffered. In response to the surprise decision, there was a sudden reversal last week. This was due to aggressive betting that rate hikes would occur in the U.S.A and around the world. The U.S. maintained its interest rates steady even though it started asset tapering.

Jason Wong, Bank of New Zealand’s strategist for Reuters said that central banks had “distorted a lot of markets”, pumping up both the equity and bond markets.

He said that currencies are “sort of in the middle” of the chaos, wondering where the heck it’s all going. The market is in a hold pattern, but there are risks, particularly in China, which has a slower economy.

In the U.S., Friday’s job report showed that October’s increased by a better-than-expected 531,000 and the fell to 4.6%.

Investors await additional information from the U.S., which is due Wednesday. These include the and price indexes. China will release its price and indexes before the U.S. figures.
