‘FarmVille’ creator Zynga’s bookings get a lift from mobile gaming demand -Breaking

(Reuters) – Zynga Inc (NASDAQ) Inc beat Wall Street estimates on Monday for quarterly net bookings, fueled by the demand for FarmVille’s popular franchise and Rollic’s contribution as a mobile game developer.

Refinitiv data shows that net bookings rose by 6% to $668million in the third-quarter, surpassing analysts’ estimate of $666million.

Zynga stated that FarmVille 3 is off on a good start, but forecasted net bookings for the current quarter of $715m, in comparison to estimates of $715.4m.

Frank Gibeau, chief executive officer of the company, stated that it is adopting a “little more conservative stance” regarding the performance of its advertising business in the fourth quarter.

The company has been declared a pandemic victor and is now facing increased competition from gamers due to COVID-19 vaccines and the relaxation of restrictions.

People have moved on from the safety of their home to seek out work, education and opportunities. “We’ve seen a decrease in Daily Active Users” (DAUs). Gibeau stated that there has been a decline in games demand compared to peak COVID quarters.

Zynga’s quarterly net loss was $41.7million, or 4c per share. This is down from $122.2million, which was 11c per share a year ago.
