Regeneron’sMonoclonal antibodies provide protection against Covid-19 for months and can be given to people whose immune system isn’t sufficiently protected by vaccinations. CEO Len Schleifer said that monoclonal antibody could also be used in individuals who aren’t adequately protected by vaccines.Squawk BoxMonday

Comments by Schleifer were made after Regeneron released dataThe one-dose antibody combination reduced the chance of contracting the virus by almost 82% over a period of two to eight month. The Food and Drug Administration stated that Regeneron’s monoclonals can be administered intravenously in order to manage moderate Covid symptoms and reduce the risk of hospitalization for high-risk individuals.

“If you want to protect people on a population level, vaccines are the best way to go – they’re cheap and you can make billions of doses,” Schleifer said. But our evidence now shows that antibodies are the main player, and that their supply is sufficient.

You might not require the cellular immunity. Although it may add some benefit, the data suggests that antibodies will be sufficient to protect against Covid-19.
