Russia quashes appeal by ex-U.S. Marine Whelan -Ifax -Breaking

MOSCOW (Reuters). – Monday’s rejection by a Russian court of Paul Whelan, an ex-Marine who was in prison had challenged refusal to allow a regional court the opportunity to hear the case and ordered that he be transferred to America to complete his sentence. Interfax reported.

Russia sent Whelan (16 years to prison for spying, he holds U.S. British, Canadian, and Irish passports). The allegation was denied by Whelan, who claimed he had been set up for a sting operation. Washington demanded that he be released.
