U.S. ends international travel ban, opens door to vaccinated tourists

On Monday, the United States lifted a travel ban on pandemics that had been in effect for over a year. This was a relief to the tourism sector and families who have been affected by these rules.
President Bush imposed the ban Donald TrumpThe ban was implemented by President Joe Biden in 2020. It also included 33 countries that had banned visitors, such as the U.K. and parts of Europe and Brazil.
Tourists can now travel to the U.S. with proof they are current on their Covid-19 vaccination. There are however exemptions available for travellers under 18 or passengers who come from countries where there is low availability of vaccination. Learn more here

According to airline executives, bookings rose after the Biden administration announced it would remove the restrictions.
Since the spring, European countries have relaxed visa requirements for foreign visitors. This includes for U.S. citizens. However, the U.S. did not reciprocate. However, airlines and companies in the travel industry urged Biden to open borders.
The shares of United Airlines Delta Air LinesAnd American AirlinesThey were all up by more than 2 percent in premarket trading. These airlines have the best international service and will reap the greatest benefits from U.S.-bound travel.
Staff at London Heathrow Airport carried U.S.- and British flags in celebration of lifting travel restrictions.
Virgin Atlantic spokeswoman stated that 98% of its U.S. flights are full today. British Airways Flight 1 took off at Heathrow with Virgin Atlantic Flight 3 just before 8:38 AM GMT. They were synchronized to take off on parallel runways.
