APEC ministers pledge recovery support, seek to curb fishing, farm subsidies -Breaking

WASHINGTON (Reuters), – The Pacific Rim foreign and trade ministers on Tuesday agreed to keep economic support measures in place to help recover from the coronavirus pandemic. However, they also vowed that negotiations would be held to reduce subsidies for agriculture and fisheries during a World Trade Organization meeting.
In a communiqué, the ministers of Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation nations stated that there were wide differences in recovery within and across economies. However, they acknowledged that downside risks remain.
Ministers stated that they needed to maintain economic recovery by continuing policy support measures while maintaining financial stability and long term fiscal sustainability.
