BRUSSELS, (Reuters) – Amazon (NASDAQ) seeks to resolve two EU antitrust investigations. This would prevent potential hefty fines or intrusive orders to alter its business practices.

In November 2013, the European Commission charged the largest online retailer in the world with using their size, power, and data to unfairly advantage smaller merchants who sell through its platform.

The investigation also included an inquiry into Amazon’s potential preferential treatment of both its retail offerings and the marketplace sellers who use its logistics or delivery services.

Amazon was involved in preliminary negotiations with EU competition enforcement and made concessions to address concerns.

It can take several months for settlement talks to conclude, and there is no guarantee that the parties will come to an agreement.

Commissions can fine corporations up to 10% of global turnover. Amazon would be subject to a $38.6 Billion fine based on its revenue last year.
