Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

The index dropped 0.19% at the NSE close.

These were the best performers of the session Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS): Traded at 892.15 after the close, up 3.80% or 32.65 point. In the meantime, Tata Motors Ltd (NS) 1.65 or 8.25 more points were added to bring the total number of 509.65. Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NSS:) was up by 1.27% or 34.10 to 2717.00 late trade.

They were also the worst performers of the session. Britannia Industries Ltd (NS): fell 2.58%, or 96.10 point to trade at 3621.60 by the close. HDFC Bank Ltd (NS): The decline in NS was 1.75% or 28.00 point to finish at 1572.25 Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS.:) dropped 1.39% to 7577.55, or 107.05 Points.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which rose 3.92% to 892.90, Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:) which was up 1.18% to settle at 1946.85 and State Bank Of India (BO:) which gained 1.16% to close at 529.20.

HDFC Bank Ltd. (BO) was the worst performer, falling 1.82% at 1571.15 in trade late. Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. Ltd. (BO) lost 1.44% at 2935.45. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. was also down at close with a loss of 1.42% at 7577.05.

On the India National Stock Exchange, rising stocks outnumbered those in decline by 1077 to 666, and 66 was unchanged. The Bombay Stock Exchange saw 1949 rise and 1263 fall, and 169 remain unchanged.

Tata Motors Ltd. shares (NS) rose 1.65% to 3 year highs, 8.25 to 509.65. Shares in Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.18% or 22.75 to 1946.85.

The implied volatility index of Nifty 50 options was lower by 2.07% to 16.0025.

Dec delivery gold futures fell 0.10% to $1826.10 an troy ounce. In commodities trading, crude oil for December delivery rose 0.48 or 0.59% to $82.41 per barrel while January Brent oil contract traded at $83.86 per barrel.

USD/INR was at 74.049, up 0.2%; EUR/INR at 85.8520 rose by 0.2%.

US Dollar Index Futures were down 0.1% at 93.935
