Twitter expands subscription service to U.S., New Zealand -Breaking

(Reuters) – Twitter Inc (NYSE:) The subscription service will now be available in New Zealand and the United States.
Twitter Blue costs $2.99 per month and includes the ability to view some news articles with no ads, upload longer video clips, and personalize the navigation bar within the Twitter app.
This San Francisco-based business, which makes most of its revenue from advertising, wants to increase the number of consistent streams of revenue. It is selling certain features to Twitter heavy users, who visit Twitter for current news and updates.
Twitter Blue subscribers are able to read articles without advertisements from publications such as USA Today, Washington Post, and Reuters. Twitter stated that a portion of the Twitter Blue user’s subscription will be donated to news organizations.
Subscribers also have the ability to pin messages at the top of their messaging inbox, and can change the color theme for their Twitter app.
Twitter launched the subscription service in Canada and Australia in June. Twitter declined to reveal how many subscribers the company has.
