Facebook’s work app Workplace to integrate with Microsoft Teams -Breaking

(Reuters: Facebook) – On Wednesday, Facebook (NASDAQ;) revealed that its Workplace app is now integrated with Microsoft (NASDAQ.)’s Collaboration app Teams. This will allow users to better exchange information between both platforms.

Users will be able to post content in Workplace’s Newsfeed or from their groups on Microsoft’s Teams platform. It stated that users would soon be able livestream video via Teams to Workplace groups.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, remote-working devices were a key feature for many companies.

Ujjwal Sing, Head of Workplace said in an interview that “you have to meet employees wherever they are directly, wherever they’re doing their job, and whatever platforms they’re using.” According to him, the integration was intended primarily for customers of both products.

The Silicon Valley company’s internal messaging platform, Workplace was created outside the company in 2005. Frances Haugen (a former Facebook employee) recently revealed internal discussions and presentations that were shared via the service.

Software is used also by Walmart (NYSE:), and Deliveroo. Facebook estimates that it has 7,000,000 Workplace subscribers.

Microsoft and Facebook recently changed their names to Meta in order to reflect their refocus on metaverse. They are both developing virtual reality solutions that can be used remotely.

Microsoft recently announced that its virtual platform Mesh will be integrated into Microsoft Teams by next year. Facebook has launched Horizon Workrooms beta testing, which is a remote-work app that allows users to use their VR headsets.
