Around 900,00 children between 5 and 11 years old have had their first dose. PfizerCovid-19 has been approved by U.S. regulators for use in the youngest age bracket last weekAccording to the White House, Wednesday was a good day.

Pfizer’s vaccine is available in smaller dosages for children, which are one third of what it gives to teenagers and adults. Vials of the vaccine come in different packaging – orange-capped and labeled vials as opposed to the purple vials for those 12 and older.

Although children are less likely to be affected by severe Covid than their parents, experts and federal regulators agree that a few do. According to the CDC data, at least 2316 children aged 5-11 years old have been diagnosed with multisystem inflammatory syndrome for children (MIS-C), a serious but rare Covid-related complication.

This is an ongoing story. Stay tuned for new updates.
