(Reuters.) – Here is a list of recent COVID-19 studies. These include studies that need further investigation to confirm the results and those that are yet to receive peer review certification.

Severe COVID-19 may cause sleep apnea

Researchers say that people suffering from COVID-19-related severe illnesses are at greater risk if they have obstructive or persistent sleep apnea, as well as other breathing disorders. These conditions can cause their oxygen levels to fall during sleep. The researchers tracked 5402 people with this condition and discovered that about a third were eventually tested for coronavirus. Although not breathing while sleeping did not raise the risk of infection, hypoxia caused by sleep did make it more likely that patients would need to be admitted or die from COVID-19. It is identical on all coronaviruses (human and animal), including any variants of SARS. Because they have seen the RTC on different viruses, the researchers believe the T cells recognize the RTC. The RTC is a potential target for vaccines if further research supports these findings, Mala Maini, a University College London study leader, and Leo Swadling (a University College London researcher), said in a joint email. They also said that these data were collected in the initial wave of pandemic. “We do not know if such control occurs for additional infectious variants currently in circulation.”

Inducing neutralizing antibodies to breast milk by vaccines

According to new research published Wednesday by JAMA Pediatrics, infants may benefit from COVID-19 antibody in breast milk. This is regardless of whether the mothers were infected with SARS or from vaccinations. The antibodies found in breast milk from the mothers of infected mothers and the mothers of healthy infants who received vaccines were examined by researchers.
