Investing.com — The U.S. stock market opened higher Thursday. They recouped some of the losses they suffered due to inflation worries on Wednesday, but remain on edge over possible interest rate increases to reduce runaway prices.

The index had fallen 65 points (or 0.2%) to 36,012 by 9:45 am ET (1445 GMT), after briefly falling below the 36,000 mark during the open. The was still up 0.2%, while the and, which suffered the largest losses Wednesday morning, were up 0.6%.

Trades were affected by Veterans Day, the inability to obtain major news from the corporate world overnight and the depressed trading environment. Market sentiment is likely to continue to drive the markets short-term drift.
