Trump Organization does not have to pay Michael Cohen’s legal bills -judge -Breaking

NEW YORK (Reuters), – The Trump Organization will not have to pay the legal costs of Michael Cohen, Trump’s ex-fixer and lawyer. A New York judge ruled on Friday.

Michael Cohen filed suit against the Trump Organization because he failed to fulfill a promise that he would pay any legal fees arising out of his work. Cohen was not able to show that he paid the legal costs associated with his work during the criminal investigation.

Cohen’s 2019 complaint states that the alleged missing reimbursements were $1.9million for legal fees, costs and another $1.9million related to Cohen’s criminal case.

The filing stated that Mr. Cohen’s legal costs stem from his (sometimes illegal) services to Donald Trump, his campaign and the Trump Foundation. But not his business with the Trump Organization.

Cohen’s suit was brought by the Trump Organization.

Lanny Davis, Cohen’s lawyer said that the decision was “unfair” in a tweet (NYSE:).

Cohen was a former employee of Trump’s firm. He testified that Trump directed Cohen to violate the law. Cohen pleaded guilty in 2018 and was sentenced for illegal hush-money payments made to women in 2016 to Trump’s campaign. He also lied to Congress about Trump’s Russian project.
