AmEx U.S. employees returning to office need to be fully vaccinated

(Reuters) – American Express Co (NYSE 🙂 Monday stated that all its U.S.-based employees must have a complete vaccination against COVID-19 beginning Nov. 18 according to an internal memo to Reuters.

Stephen Squeri, the Chief Executive Officer sent a memo to all employees stating that masks or any other facial coverings would be allowed in designated areas for company purposes.

Squeri stated in the memo that “We also expect vaccine requirements to be introduced in other countries, where permitted by law” and as needed.

AmEx expects its entire workforce to return to work on January 24, next year. However, it does not plan to implement mandatory COVID-19 screening programs that include the vaccine requirement.

The memo stated that unvaccinated U.S. workers and people without proof of vaccination may request a virtual arrangement if they are able to work effectively from home.

Contractors, Visitors to AmEx’s U.S. Offices and Employees who want to take part in In-person Events of the Company are all eligible for this mandate.
