Dollar Down as Investors Await Next Clues on Fed Interest Rate Hike Timeline -Breaking

Investing.com – The dollar was down on Monday morning in Asia, remaining below an almost 16-month high. The next information on the U.S. recovery is now available to investors. This follows the forward betting for an increase in the U.S. Federal Reserve’s interest rate. Inflation continues to rise.

The pair inched up 0.01% to 113.86, after Japan’s third-quarter GDP contracting by a larger-than-expected 3% and 0.8% .
The pair edged higher by 0.1% at 0.7344. On Tuesday, they released the minutes of its November meeting. Inching up 0.03 percent to 0.7049, the pair was unchanged.
This pair climbed 0.05% to 6.3819. Data released earlier in day indicated that it grew 6.1%, 3.5% and 4.9% respectively year-on year. It remained at 4.9%.
Xi Jinping is also expected to hold a virtual summit meeting with Joe Biden, his counterpart in the United States.

The U.S. released data the week before that showed the consumer price index growing at the fastest pace ever since 1990. This gave the dollar a boost. Investors are now doubting the Fed’s insistence that inflationary pressures will be temporary, pricing the first rate increase by July 2022 and a high likelihood of another by November 2022 as of the end of last week.
The U.S. will be available on Tuesday. Investors are now awaiting this release. National Australia Bank (OTC) chief of FX Strategy Ray Attrill wrote in a note, “It is important to monitor what U.S. consumers still have cashed up,” as sentiment readings were inconsistent with spending.
Dollar index is heavily weighted towards the euro. The euro’s fall has helped the index. However, it will remain near Friday’s 16-month low of $1.1433. At $1.14455 the euro was unchanged, not far from Friday’s low of $1.1433. Christine Lagarde, president of the ECB will speak to the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (European Parliament) later that day.
