The number of Covid-19-related cases is starting to increase in certain regions throughout the U.S., after having stabilized at an elevated level during this summer’s delta surge. White House chief medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci stated Monday.

Fauci’s remarks came one day after the country posted a 7-day average of 82,000 new cases. That is an increase of 11% over the week prior, according CNBC. Nationwide cases were down 57% last weekThe sudden rise in Covid cases is being fuelled by an increase in Covid patients from the Midwest and Northeast, which coincides with the peak of the Delta wave this summer.

“The only thing which is slightly disconcerting about it all, we’re starting to plateau,” Fauci told the Bipartisan Political Center during an interview. The deceleration is slowing down, but we see some improvement in certain parts of the country.

Since Sept. 13, when there was a high of 172,500 new infections per day, the infection rate has been declining for many weeks. The infection rate has been declining steadily since then, with an average of 70,000 to 75,000 cases per day. This was for the past three weeks, but is now back up.

Hopkins data shows that the Midwest has seen an increase in average daily cases of 19% and 37%, respectively, over the week. In the Midwest, hospitalizations are on the rise by 11% while in the Northeast, they have stagnated.

The South has seen a sharp drop in hospitalizations and case numbers, as the delta wave struck the most earliest and strongest this summer.

A seven-day analysis of data from Department of Health and Human Services found that approximately 47,000 HIV patients are in hospitals across the country. According to Hopkins data the U.S. currently reports around 1,150 Covid death per day. Over the past week, both figures were flat.
