SOFIA / Reuters – Partially results of Monday’s election in Bulgaria showed that a new centre-right political party will win the parliamentary election. It is believed this would increase chances for a resolution to the impasse within Europe’s poorest state.

Two former interim ministers launched the anti-graft We Continue The Change Party two months ago. 42% of votes were counted starting Sunday’s electoral election data showed.

It was the Balkan’s third electoral vote of the year.

Second with 21.4% is the centre-right GERB political party of Boyko Borossov (long-serving premier). After a vote in April, his decade-long reign ended amid widespread corruption and anger from the public.

After the July election, Borissov’s oppositions were unable to form a government due to political wrangling.

Analysts stated that We Continue The Change was better placed to secure a coalition, this time with the support from the Socialists and two other anti-corruption organizations. However, there are still difficult negotiations ahead.

Bulgarians are tired of political infighting, which has led to a dramatic rise in energy costs and an increase COVID-19-related deaths.
