WASHINGTON (Reuters), – Monday’s statement by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency was that they will not rewrite the original standards regulating greenhouse gases from aircrafts, which were established in the final days of President Donald Trump’s presidency.

In January, President Joe Biden directed the EPA to examine whether the rules for airplane emissions should be rewritten. The regulations are currently being challenged by 12 states and three environmental organizations.

Monday, the EPA stated that it will push for high-quality international emission standards during the next round of international negotiations to be held at U.N. International Civil Aviation Organization.
