KENOSHA (Wis.) – A Wisconsin jury will decide whether Kyle Rittenhouse is released or sent to prison.

The jury of 12 must determine whether or not the U.S. teenager acted in self defense when he shot and killed two people during demonstrations in Kenosha for racial justice last year.

Rittenhouse (18) faces five felonies with possible sentences of life imprisonment or 12-1/2 years in prison. The maximum sentence for two of these charges is 60 years imprisonment.

Rittenhouse, who illegally owned the AR-15-style rifle used in his shootings was not charged with a misdemeanor. Bruce Schroeder, Judge Bruce Schroeder stated that Rittenhouse could possess the semiautomatic rifle because of exceptions to the law.

Each of the remaining five charges carries an aggravating element of “use a dangerous weapon.” This provision could add up to five additional years to any sentence.

COUNT 1: RECKLESS FIRST-DEGREE HOMICIDE

This crime stems from Rittenhouse shooting Joseph Rosenbaum, 36. It can carry a sentence up to 60 years.

The trial video showed Rosenbaum following Rittenhouse to a lot of used cars. Rittenhouse shouted, “Friendly. Friendly, friend.” Rittenhouse, as well as a witness, testified that Rosenbaum tried to take the rifle from Rittenhouse, who was not armed.

A jury must find Rittenhouse was guilty of the murder with “utter disregard” for human life.

COUNTS 2 and 3: PREFERRED-DEGREE RECKLESSLY INJURING SAFETY

Prosecutors allege that Rittenhouse accidentally shot Rosenbaum. McGinnis is the chief video director for the Daily Caller. This conservative website testified Rosenbaum tried to grasp Rittenhouse’s gun barrel.

Rittenhouse was seen shooting at Anthony Huber in video before Rittenhouse killed him. The unidentified male attacker tried to kick Rittenhouse, and Rittenhouse fired two shots at him. They appear to have missed. Rittenhouse was also charged by authorities with recklessly endangering safety in this incident.

You can be fined up to $25,000 or sentenced to up to 121/2 years prison for felony.

COUNT 4 – FIRST DEGREE INTENTIONAL HOMICIDE

Rittenhouse is facing this most severe charge, which is similar to the first-degree murder charges in other states. He could spend his entire life behind bars if he is found guilty by the jury.

Huber’s death, 26-year-old, is the reason for the charge.

Rittenhouse, who had shot Rosenbaum’s portrait, fled the area and was followed by Huber as well as others. Rittenhouse fell to the ground and shot Huber who was attempting to hurl a skateboard at Rittenhouse.

An order was made by the prosecution to request that second-degree insanity homicide be included on the jury. Each can result in up to 60 years imprisonment.

COUNT 5 – ATTEMPTED FIRST DEGREE INTENTIONAL HOMICIDE

Rittenhouse injured Gaige Grosskreutz (27), who was left with a broken arm as a result of the bullet. You could spend up to 60 consecutive years behind bars for this felony.

Judge granted prosecution requests to request that the jury consider first-degree reckless endangering security and second-degree intentionally homicide. Both can be punished by as much as 12-1/2 years imprisonment.
