WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – The U.S. State Department urged Americans in Ethiopia on Tuesday to evacuate the country as soon as possible. It also stated that Washington does not plan to allow an evacuation by military aircraft or commercial planes.

According to a senior State Department official, Olusegun Obasanjo (African Union Envoy for Horn of Africa) will be returning to Ethiopia within the next few days. Washington is increasing pressure on Ethiopia to end the conflict by urging the U.S. to evaluate how they can help Obasanjo.
