Analog Devices, Inc., (ADI), and Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., (AMD) are prominent players in global semiconductor industry. AMD Santa Calara in California offers microprocessors chipsets GPUs server and embedded processors semi-custom System on Chip (SoC), products and technology for consoles. They also offer assembly, testing, packaging and other services. ADI in Norwood (Mass.) designs, manufactures and markets a range of high-performance digital, analog and mixed-signal signal processing technologies. This includes integrated circuits, algorithms, software and subsystems that can be used in the industrial, automotive and consumer markets.

Because of the enormous demand for semiconductor chips in many industries, government around the globe are taking measures to correct the remaining supply-demand imbalance and helping semiconductor manufacturers ramp up production. Increased subsidies and investments will help the semiconductor industry benefit from this high demand. The global semiconductor industry saw 27.6% growth year-over-year in its third quarter despite the shortage of chips. And rising investor optimism in this space is evident in the SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF’s (XSD) 18.8% gains over the past month, versus the SPDR S&P 500 Trust ETF’s (SPY) 4.8% returns. By 2026, the global semiconductor market will grow by 7.7% to $778 million. Both AMD as well as ADI can benefit from this.
