It is now possible for companies to set up a digital workplace using cloud computing without having to spend a lot of money upfront or have the technical knowledge. However, the ease of opening a business on centralized platforms such as Amazon (NASDAQ:) Web Services can come at a price for both the company and their clients.

Users lose hundreds of thousands of dollars each minute due to cloud computing failures on AWS. Amazon’s most recent outage – which lasted a mere 13 minutes – is thought to have cost users over $2.6 million, or around $203,000 for every minute of downtime.

One way to circumvent the issues presented by centralized platforms like AWS, Google (NASDAQ:) Cloud, and Fastly (NYSE:) is to apply a decentralized framework which isn’t reliant on any one bank of servers or corporate entity.

On Gather Cloud, it’s decentralized and private

That’s the solution put forth by Gather Network, which localizes cloud computing in a decentralized manner by pulling all local computing resources into its cloud network. Gather Network’s cloud computing solution reroutes spare processing power from devices in a local environment – say, an office workspace – and applies it to the network at large.

This system has many advantages. One, it saves companies the cost of setting up new technical infrastructures in a digital environment. By using their existing hardware and devices, businesses can adopt and sustain a private cloud environment.

Companies can now run their own cloud, without having to incur additional costs. They also have the control and security that comes with a cloud computing service. Network outages no longer depend on the fluctuating nature of cloud-based services. They are determined instead by local operating procedures.

An administrator can access a separate login for company staff. This gives them a view of the private network of their employees and lets them see which computers have been used to complete upcoming tasks. Administrators have the ability to see how much processing power their network has at any time. This allows them to make plans and plan for future operations. Gather Cloud recently added a file transfer feature that allows for large files to be uploaded directly from the cloud without the need of external entities.

Gather Network just wrapped up testing the Gather Private Cloud Services. Next is the execution of a strategy for going to market that will allow enterprises and gather cloud users to launch their services.

Gather’s effort to localize processing power using a decentralized framework threatens to upend the status quo of cloud computing services, which for too long have been dependent on a small clique of big tech corporations.
