SINGAPORE, (Reuters) – Singapore has teamed up with Airbus in order to investigate the use of hydrogen for aircraft operations. This is part of a wide agreement on sustainable aviation.

This agreement will examine the demand for and supply of alternate aviation fuels, as well as economic and regulatory conditions that support greener aviation.

First, a technical feasibility report on an airport hydrogen hub is being done. This study will also examine the infrastructure required to sustain future hydrogen-powered aircraft operations. These studies are expected to be completed in early 2022. They will last for two years.

These include the storage and distribution (storage and distribution) of hydrogen as well as aircraft ground services and logistic equipment.

Airbus stated that it hopes to have a hydrogen-powered plane on the market by 2035 and signed agreements with other airlines to conduct similar research.

Airline operators around the world aim to reach ambitious targets for reducing their carbon emissions in accordance with Government commitments. Global carbon emissions account for 2.5% of the total aviation sector.
