From California to Maine, state officials are telling their adults to obtain a passport or allowing them to do so. Covid-19The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advised against vaccine boosters to keep shots for elderly and high-risk populations.

Arkansas, Colorado and Louisiana are encouraging the mass distribution of boosters to all fully-vaccinated adults. New York City and Rhode Island ask adults who live in areas with high exposure to receive boosters. Minnesota, New Jersey, and Minnesota plan to increase eligibility over the coming days. California is asking doctors not to refuse boosters for adults.

West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice called for boosters Monday in West Virginia for everyone. He added that it would be foolish for fully-vaccinated people not to apply for the supplemental shots. The state’s Department of Health and Human Resources announced Thursday that 53,400 West Virginians had received booster doses.

Justice stated Monday at a press conference that he believes booster shots can be given to anyone over 18 years old.

New Mexico Governors issued executive orders this week to officially establish booster access for the entire population of their state’s adult citizens. The latest statistics from the two states show that more than 292,700 New Mexico residents and nearly 781,000.400 Coloradoans have been granted a booster.

In a Nov. 12 statement, Dr. David Scrase (New Mexico’s acting secretary of health), stated that “Case numbers are substantial, spread rates and the Delta variant are far too high” Our hospitals have reached capacity and many of them have adopted Crisis Standards of Care.

According to the Department of Health and Human Services, almost 93% of New Mexico’s ICU beds were full as of Thursday. Covid patients took up 40% of ICU beds. According to HHS, 82% of Colorado ICU beds had been filled with patients suffering from virus infections. 38% were reserved for them.

Kentucky also followed the lead on Wednesday by issuing an executive order authorizing boosters for adults who have been fully vaccinated. Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, Massachusetts, and Vermont expanded their booster programs without requiring an official order.

New York and Rhode Island don’t allow anyone over the age of 18 to have their boosters, but they do urge those at greater risk to contract Covid to obtain another shot. However, Dr. Dave Chokshi (New York City’s Health Commissioner) directed pharmacists and doctors to administer boosters to anyone who asked.

At a Tuesday briefing, Dr. Nicole Alexander Scott, Director of Rhode Island’s Department of Health said that “We continue having higher transmission rates. The winter’s approaching, our cases are going up.” Everyone 18 years and over is more at risk. We want to let everyone know that they can get their booster shots.

California’s Department of Public Health issued new guidelines on Nov. 9, asking doctors to give boosters to adults who feel they are at greater risk from the virus.

Minnesota officials and New Jersey officials announced this week they would soon simplify the criteria for boosters. As a result, the push for granting access to more people to additional doses is growing. Pfizer may be authorized to distribute its booster for all adults by the FDA this week. After the final approval of the CDC, adults who have been fully vaccinated could begin receiving these shots prior to Thanksgiving.

Jan Malcolm, Minnesota’s Health Commissioner said Tuesday at a Covid briefing that she had been in communication with federal partners and was ready to act independently this week to increase eligibility.
