REUTERS/Brendan McDermid/File PhotoLONDON (Reuters] – Equity funds saw $13.2 billion in inflows in week to Wednesday. Fixed income flows slowed, and precious metals funds suffered losses as the markets wrestle with inflation and rising yields, BofA reported on Friday.
BofA reported that total inflows into equity funds rose to $1.0 trillion last week due to flows to stocks funds, using EPFR data. Cash funds received $7.8 trillion, while fixed income funds experienced $6.2 million in the lowest weekly inflows for four weeks.
“10-year U.S. real rates now -4.6% , a level in the past 200 years that has been associated with panics, inflations, wars & depression, and a level today increasingly responsible for froth in crypto, commodities, and U.S. stocks,” said Michael Hartnett at BofA.
U.S. equity funds received $3.3 billion, while emerging equities nearly matched that intake of $2.7 billion. BofA reported that $900 million of emerging market debt saw its first withdrawal in just four weeks. This is a great source for greater global yields.
