PARIS (Reuters), – Saturday’s statement by the Dassault group denied any intention to sell Le Figaro after French media outlet Mediapart claimed that Vincent Bollore, a French tycoon, had begun negotiations for control.

“It’s total brainwashing. “It has never been part of the group’s plans for Le Figaro to separate,” Rudi Roussilon from Dassault told Reuters about the Mediapart report.

Bollore spokesmen declined to comment.

Dassault Aviation was the manufacturer of Rafale warplanes and Le Figaro.

Bollore owns media group Vivendi. (OTC:), which is Lagardere’s largest shareholder. It also has assets such as Paris Match, Europe 1 Radio, and the Journal du Dimanche.

Vivendi already holds 27% of Lagardere and announced in September that it would buy Amber Capital’s 17.9% stake, paving way for a complete takeover.
