Flights briefly halted after accidental gun discharge at Atlanta airport, no injuries reported

All flights were temporarily halted after an accidental gunshot was heard at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport security screening area.

According to the airport’s Twitter account, there is no active shooter and no ongoing threat for passengers or employees. Atlanta Police Department spokesperson said NBC NewsThere were no reports of injuries.

Airport officials posted the following tweet: “Officials have given the all-clear to #ATLAirport, and normal operations are starting.” Information about the incident has not yet been released.

Diverse news sources reported that witnesses claimed to have spoken. panic ensuedIn the domestic terminal of the airport. NBC affiliate WXIA of Atlanta reported passengers got off planes to wait on the tarmac and around the terminals.

It happened right as holiday season is about to begin. According to the Transportation Security Administration, it anticipates screening about 20 millionPeople between Nov. 19 & Nov. 28, nearly at 2019 levels.
