ABBOTSFORD in British Columbia (Reuters – Three bodies were found by searchers after landslides devastated parts of British Columbia. Officials announced this on Saturday. The landslide occurred following record rains that left some areas of British Columbia paralyzed, causing fuel and food shortages.

Canada’s Westernmost Province declared a state emergency due to a phenomena known as “atmospheric rivers” which brought in a full month of rainfall within two days. Rainstorms caused flooding that flooded roads and railroads and cut off access to Vancouver and parts of the Lower Mainland region.

Environment Canada reports that another weather system similar to this one is expected to strike northern British Columbia Sunday. It will bring heavy rains down to the lower mainland.

Temporary restrictions were placed on fuel and other travel Friday by the province to help ease supply chain disruptions.

The chief coroner of the Province said that three more bodies, one from Monday and another were discovered. However, efforts to locate a fifth victim in the mudslide collapsed have failed.

Lisa Lapointe released a statement saying that “this has been an extremely difficult year for us all in B.C. and my heart goes out the many families, communities and people who have experienced tragic losses.”

Storms that began last Sunday caused the Trans Mountain pipeline to be closed and two of its critical east-west railroad lines to be cut. Canadian Pacific (NYSE:) Railway and Canadian National Railway. (TSX:) Co. These two railways lead to Vancouver being Canada’s busiest port, thereby preventing the flow of goods and fuel.

CP stated that work on repairing damaged infrastructure will continue unabated and should resume service by the middle next week.

Around 14,000 are still under evacuation orders across several Pacific communities.
