NBA-Warriors’ Kerr says America on ‘dangerous path’ after Rittenhouse verdict -Breaking

(Reuters) – Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr stated that lax gun laws have led the United States on a dangerous path. A jury acquitted Kyle Rittenhouse, a teenager who was shot to death during racial justice protests held in Kenosha.

Jurors found Rittenhouse (age 18) innocent of murdering two men and attempted killing another man. Rittenhouse claimed self defense.

Kenosha protests were in reaction to the arrest of Black man Jacob Blake by police.

Kerr said he was surprised but concerned by its implications.

“We seem all fine with a teenager’s rights to carry an AR-15 in an area that is experiencing civil unrest. It’s very scary and worrying,” he said to reporters before Friday’s Warriors game against the Detroit Pistons.

He said that the verdict could pose a great danger if it continues to follow open carry, with states declaring that anyone, including minors, may have weapons of war.
