(Reuters] – Jamal Khashoggi was engaged to a woman named Jamal Khashoggi. She asked Justin Bieber not to perform in Saudi Arabia’s second largest city Jeddah on Dec. 5, and urged him not to do so for his “murderers,” the slain Saudi journalist.

Hatice Ciengiz sent a letter to Bieber, published in The Washington Post on Saturday. In it she requested that Bieber cancel her performance in an effort to “send out a powerful signal to the whole world that your name is not used to repair the reputation of the regime that kills their critics.”

In February, President Joe Biden released an intelligence report from the United States that implicated Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince in Khashoggi murders in Istanbul in 2018. However, he was spared any punishment. However, the crown prince has denied any involvement.

Cengiz stated, “Do no sing for the murderers and my beloved Jamal,” Mohammed bin Salman, his murderer, must be condemned. Millions will hear your voice.

Canadian Bieber will be performing at the Formula One Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

The performers were urged by human rights organizations to voice their disapproval of the Kingdom’s violations of human rights.

Human Rights Watch reported Wednesday that Saudi Arabia used celebrities and important international events as cover for its abuses.

The advocacy group urged the performers, who also include rapper A$AP Rocky, DJs David Guetta and Tiesto and singer Jason Derulo, “to speak out publicly on rights issues or, when reputation-laundering is the primary purpose, not participate.”

Khashoggi was a Saudi-born American resident. He wrote opinions columns for Washington Post that were critical of the Saudi crown Prince. A team of men connected to him in Istanbul’s consulate killed Khashoggi and dismembered his body.
