DETROIT – President Joe Biden’s visit last week to a General MotorsThe automaker announced Tuesday that reservations have increased at the GMC Hummer electric pickup plant.

Duncan Aldred was the GMC’s global head. He said the eventThis month saw the most reservations for Hummers, even the SUV versions, since the time the Hummers were first introduced.

Aldred said that it just demonstrated customer curiosity and desire to buy, during a Tuesday briefing.

Aldred did not disclose details about the reservations. They require a $100 non-refundable deposit. Aldred said that the automaker had more than 125,000 people who have asked for information on the car. He believes that most of them will become buyers.

Biden visited the factory on Wednesday and was accompanied by Mary Barra, GM CEO. Biden gave several praises for the vehicle at the facility during his speech, calling it “one heck of a car”.

Tuesday’s announcement by Aldred that GM will begin delivering a $113,000 “Edition 1” special version of its flagship truck in mid-December was confirmed. The Detroit automaker would have delivered the truck in that time frame, which means it will be on-time from the time it was ordered. unveiled in October 2020.

However, the vehicle’s electric range is expected to be 329 miles. That’s a decrease of 6% over 350.

Aldred mentioned the high number of features found in the Edition 1 models to explain the reduced range. Aldred also mentioned that vehicles with fewer features will have a greater range over the next few years.
