Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

The NSE closed with an additional 0.50% and the index gained 0.3%.

These were the best performers of the session JSW Steel Ltd (NS) climbed 4.00%, or 26.30 point to close at 683.30. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (NS:), which gained 3.94%, or 7.65 points, to close at 201.85 Coal India Late trade saw Ltd (NS) rise 3.75%, or 5.65 points, to 156.20

These were the worst performers of the session. IndusInd Bank Ltd., which dropped 2.54% (or 25.55 point), to trade at 981.35 by the close. Asian Paints Ltd. (NS) fell 2.32%, or 75.70 point to finish at 3185.55 Infosys Ltd (NS.:) dropped 1.28% or 22.50 to 1736.90.

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (BO) rose 3.91% at 201.85, NTPC Ltd. (BO) was up 2.53% at 133.50, and Tata Steel Ltd. (BO) gained 2.38% at close at 1192.55.

IndusInd Bank Ltd., (BO) was the worst performer. It fell 2.59% to 980.60 late trade. Asian Paints Ltd. was also down (BO) to 3186.90. Infosys Ltd. was down 1.9% to 1732.25 by close.

On the India National Stock Exchange, rising stocks outnumbered those in decline by 1411, 342 and 42 respectively. The Bombay Stock Exchange saw 2364 rise and 788 fall, and 157 ended unchanged.

The implied volatility index of Nifty 50 options was up by 2.83% to 18.0150.

For December delivery, Gold Futures fell 0.47% to $1797.90 per troy an ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which fell by 0.93 percent to $75.82/barrel in January. The January Brent oil contract, however, fell 0.66 percent to $79.04/barrel.

USD/INR fell 0.02% at 74.415 while EUR/INR rose 0.2% to 83.8115.

At 96.407, the US Dollar Index Futures fell 0.14%.
