LOS ANGELES (Reuters] – Jay-Z, a rapper who has received 83 Grammy nominations in his lifetime, rose to the top spot of the artist list with the most Grammy nominations. This puts him right behind former Beatle Paul McCartney.
Jay-Z’s latest nominations were for collaborative work with other artists. Jay-Z was a guest on the DMX song, “Bath Salts”, as well as Kanye West’s track “Jail”, which garnered him a nod for West’s album “Donda.”
Jay-Z won 23 Grammys, including a Best Rap Album award in 1999, honors for “Crazy in Love”, with Beyonce in 2004, and songs “Empire State of Mind”, with Alicia Keys in 2011.
Beyonce broke the record with 28 Grammy wins in her career earlier this year.
McCartney’s Grammy nomination total rose to 81 Tuesday. He received two Grammy nods for best-selling rock album McCartney III and best song “Find My Way”
Quincy Jones was tied with Jay-Z on Tuesday for the most Grammy nominations. However, he has been nominated for 80 Grammys.
Grammys Winners will be announced on January 31st at Los Angeles ceremony that will be broadcast by CBS.
