Pope sends condolences for car attack on U.S. Christmas parade -Breaking

REUTERS/Daniel SteinleVATICAN CITY, (Reuters) – Pope Francis sent a condolence message to Waukesha in Wisconsin for the attack that killed five people and injured many others. He said that he hoped that spirituality would prevail over violence.
On Tuesday, the Vatican secretary to state sent a message in his honor to the Roman Catholic bishop at Milwaukee. It stated that the pope wanted all to know his support.
The message stated that “(The Pope) commends those who have died to almighty God’s loving mercy, and implores the divine gifts for healing and consolation upon injured and bereaved.”
It said, “He joins with you in asking God to bestow spiritual strength on everyone that triumphs over violence. Overpowers evil with good.”
Darrell Brooks (39), is charged with five counts each of first-degree murder in Sunday’s attack. According to police, he was already released from custody in a case of domestic abuse and had been involved in another violent incident earlier that day.
