WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – President Joe Biden, and Jill his wife served turkey and sweet potatoes Tuesday at D.C. Central Kitchen. This organization makes fresh food in Washington for homeless shelters and schools, just ahead of the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday.

Vice President Kamala Harris (with her husband Doug Emhoff) joined the Bidens for green beans, gravy and other dishes. Jose Andres (famous chef) was also present as the couple put together Thanksgiving meals kits with employees at the facility.

Americans mark Thanksgiving on Thursday by eating traditional American meals that include turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes.

Biden answered reporters when asked what he is thankful for: “The people right beside me.”

Following their community service, the Bidens flew to Joint Base Andrews to take a flight to Nantucket (Massachusetts), where they will be spending the rest of the week.
