The leading GameFi and Play-to-Earn project Axie Infinity made it to the headlines once again as a Genesis Land Plot sells for 550 ETH — worth $2.3 million at the time of the sale. According to the Axie Infinity team, this is the “largest sum ever paid for a single plot of digital land.”

Back in February, the project’s previous highest sale record was 888.25 ETH for 9 Genesis Land Plots — worth $1.5 million at the time of sale. Axie Infinity currently holds the #1 ranking in terms of the largest all-time volume sales with more than $3.3 billion, surpassing CryptoPunks at $1.6 billion.

AxieInfinity, a Play to Earn game ecosystem, allows users to create non-fungible tokens called Axies by breeding, playing, and earning crypto.

The platform has minted more than 9million Axies to date. A breeding competition will take place and the winner of the rare NFT will receive a prize.
