Republic of Palau Partners with Ripple to Develop the Country’s First National Digital CurrencyThe world’s first national digital coin could come to the decentralized public blockchain XRPL in 2022.
This technology works in the same way as the cryptocurrency, XRP, and is used to make financial transactions. The company announced a partnership with Micronesia’s region Palau in the western Pacific Ocean.
This partnership will be focused on cross-border payment strategies and adoption of cryptocurrency. Ripple intends to support Palau in implementing its first government-backed stablecoin.
“The first phase of the partnership will focus on a cross-border payments strategy and exploring options to create a national digital currency, providing the citizens of Palau with greater financial access,”
According to the President of Palau, Surangel Whipps, Jr.
Ripple claims that the company is the market leader in energy efficient transactions. It is also an expert in global payment systems and blockchain technology. The XRP Ledger allows for the creation of the most complex projects with no threats to the natural environment.
“We have a wonderful opportunity to bring together our technology and experience with the unique characteristics of Palau to make a real economic and social impact for the country,”
