(Reuters) – Each subsequent COVID-19 variant has had a less positive effect on the economy. If the Omicron version discovered in South Africa is able to follow that pattern, then it will cause a smaller slowdown than the Delta variant. Raphael Bostic, President of Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank, stated Friday.

Bostic told Fox News that “if this new variant follows a similar trajectory to the Delta variant, then it will slow down but not as fast as Delta,” during a Fox News interview.

“We are enjoying a lot economic momentum right now… I hope that this momentum will carry us through the next wave of whatever it is.”
