WHO designates COVID variant found in South Africa as “of concern” -Breaking

JOHANNESBURG, (Reuters) – The World Health Organization (WHO), Friday identified a fifth COVID-19 variant in South Africa that has a high number of mutations and was “of concern.”

In a statement, the WHO stated that the B.1.1.529 variant of the Greek letter Omicron had been assigned.
