Largest Crypto Mining Disruption in Europe and Parts of Asia Affects Operations

Blocked access and widespread Internet connectivity are major issues for cryptocurrency miners in most parts of Western, Central and Eastern Europe and Northern Asia. The following are confirmed mining disruptions: viaBTC. Poolin. f2pool. Binance. They all run on the same common thread: these are mining pools. Alibaba (NYSE:) Cloud. An Alibaba Cloud representative was able to speak directly with me and was unaware of any service disruptions or connectivity issues.

At the time of writing, server inaccessibility issues manifest as DNS errors. DNS, the standard naming system, is used to identify computer services and network connections. DNS resource records encode domain names along with any other information required for connectivity.

Types of responses crypto miners are receiving are listed below, which have been shared exclusively with DailyCoin while some have been posted to a Telegram miners’ forum.

Additional prompts include “Name or service not known” as well as chaotic page responses with addresses of unrelated websites such as Facebook (NASDAQ:), Twitter (NYSE:), and Dropbox (NASDAQ:) rather than mining servers.

The following countries are experiencing problems: Sweden, Turkey, Russia. Poland. Romania. Norway. Italy. Spain. Hungary. France. Denmark. It’s worth noting it might be a server or proxy issue since many of the messages we’re seeing are encouraging miners to “change the DNS,” which indicates that actual servers are functional but access could be restricted for other reasons such as government bans.
