ECB’s Lagarde says euro zone in better shape facing new COVID wave, Omicron variant -Breaking

MILAN (Reuters), Christine Lagarde from the European Central Bank stated that the euro area is more prepared for the economic consequences of a new wave COVID-19 infection or Omicron variant.

Due to an increase in COVID-19 infection, several European countries have taken restrictive measures. On Friday, the new variant of coronavirus Omicron was discovered in South Africa and spread quickly across Europe.

“There are obvious concerns about the economic recovery [of the euro zone]We will be 2022 but we’ve learned a lot. Now we know who our enemy is and how to respond. Lagarde stated that we are now better equipped to handle a potential fifth wave of Omicron variants or a similar threat.

“The crisis showed us that this virus has no borders. In a simultaneous translation of French into Italian, Lagarde stated that “we will not be protected” until everyone is vaccinated.
