Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

NSE close: The index gained 0.16 percent, and the gain was 0.26%.

These were the best performers of the session Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS): Traded at 2019.60 by a rise of 2.82%, or 55.30 point. Meanwhile, HCL Technologies Ltd (NS) gained 2.08%, or 23.10 point to close at 1133.15. HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd was up 1.94% (13.00 points) to 683.65 late trade.

These were the worst performers of the session. Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd., which dropped 2.49% (or 9.40 points) to close at 367.45 Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., (NS) fell 2.12% (16.25 points) to close at 751.05. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd. (NS) dropped 2.12% (15.20 points) to reach 701.95.

Top performers in the BSE Sensex 30, were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd., which rose 2.92% until 2020.20; HCL Technologies Ltd. (BO) was up 2.25% and settled at 1132.70. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. gained 1.60% to end at 3500.70.

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(BO:), which fell 2.3% to 750.80 by late trade, NTPC Ltd. (“BO:”) which dropped 1.71% at 126.45, and AXIS Bank Ltd. (“BO:”) which declined 1.65% to 650.85 in the closing.

The India National Stock Exchange saw falling stocks surpass advancing by 1456 to 359. However, the Bombay Stock Exchange witnessed 2371 stock losses and 929 advances. While 171 was unchanged, the Bombay Stock Exchange had 2371 and 349, respectively.

The index, which tracks the implied volatility for Nifty50 options, rose 0.13%, to 20.8300, an all-time high of 6 months.

The February delivery of Gold Futures was up 0.1%, or 10.95 to $1799.05 per troy ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which rose 3.35 percent to reach $71.50/barrel in January, and February Brent oil, which rose 3.28 percent to trade at $74.87/barrel.

USD/INR increased 0.06% at 75.088 while EUR/INR dropped 0.16% at 84.7840.

At 96.165, the US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.06%.
