U.S. Senate blocks annual defense bill amid Republican objections -Breaking

WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – The U.S. Senate voted Monday against the National Defense Authorization Act. It was opposed by Republicans and some liberal Democrats. However, lawmakers promised to continue working on the huge annual defense policy bill that has been in law for sixty years.

Voting ended with 47 “no”, meaning that most bills could not be passed in the Senate’s 100-member Senate.
