FRANKFURT(Reuters) -BioNTech Pfizer (NYSE:) The COVID-19 vaccine, BioNTech’s Chief Executive stated to Reuters that it will provide strong protection against Omicron variant-related severe diseases.

Over the coming weeks, lab tests will be conducted to analyze the blood samples of those who have received two to three doses BioNTech Comirnaty vaccine. This is to determine if the antibodies in the blood activate Omicron. If so, this could help to identify new vaccines.

Ugur Sahin, BioNTech CEO and cofounder said that “we think it’s probable that people will have substantial protection împotriva severe disease caused Omicron.” Severe disease is defined as one that requires hospitalization or intensive care.

Sahin said to Reuters that he believes the Omicron vaccine will show some protection against mild to moderate disease, although the severity of the loss is difficult to forecast.

He said that the biotech company is working quickly to improve its vaccine. However, it is not clear if this is necessary.

Sahin stated that a booster vaccine, which is a second shot of the two-shot initial course of vaccinations, will provide additional protection from Omicron infections of all severity.

To my knowledge, there is no reason for concern. Sahin said that the only thing worrying him at this time is that some people haven’t been vaccinated.

BioNTech is able to maintain a guarded sense of confidence, which contrasts well with the alarming feelings expressed by its chief executive. Moderna (NASDAQ:), Stephane Bancel.

He spoke out in a Financial Times interview about the possibility of significant drops in the protection of new coronavirus lines from the current vaccines. This has prompted fresh concern in the financial markets regarding the future of the pandemic.
