Volkswagen is selling more EVs than Tesla in Europe

Germany-based Volkswagen GroupAfter the 2015 emissions scandal, the company has emerged to be Europe’s EV leader. The company stated that 26% of Europe’s EV markets were in its first half of 2021. However, TeslaModel 3 is available at. Volkswagen has been selling well throughout the region. Its local manufacturing and brand recognition, as well as its lower price point, have given it an advantage over Tesla.
Volkswagen could lose its lead, however. Elon Musk has stated that he wants to begin production at Berlin Gigafactory before the year ends.
According to analysts, the Volkswagen Group reaps the benefits of its large range of brands which include luxury brands such as Porsche, Bentley, Audi and Bentley in the fast-growing EV market. VW’s European most-popular EV is the ID.3, a compact hatchback starting at $40,000. In September 2020, Volkswagen introduced the ID.4, an SUV that targets the global market. It has become Volkswagen’s most-sold EV.
The global gap between Tesla and Volkswagen is still significant. Tesla produced more than 627,000 EVs during the first quarter of 2021 while Volkswagen made approximately 293,000. Volkswagen plans to launch a slew of all-electric models, alongside other traditional automakers as well as EV startup companies, over the next ten years.
