Nela Richardson, chief economist at ADP, stated that “the labor market recovery continued its power through its challenges last month.” Service providers have been the most successful in generating job growth this year. They are particularly vulnerable to the pandemic. Although it is too soon to know if Omicron could slow down the recovery of jobs in the coming months,
ADP’s calculations, which are subject to substantial variation from those of the Labor Department, show that private job growth was on average 543,000 in the last three months and 4911,000 overall for 2021. Average monthly payrolls for government jobs from the Labor Department have been 529,000.
After October’s 531,00 jobs, the Bureau of Labor Statistics report for November will be published Friday. It is forecast to indicate a 33% increase in employment. Dow Jones forecasts that the unemployment rate will fall to 4.5%.
