WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – A Georgian man pleaded guilty Wednesday to assaulting a U.S. Capitol officer in the Jan. 6, 2017 riot that was organized by Trump supporters to reverse his defeat.

Kevin Creek (46), of Alpharetta, has pleaded guilty to the felony charge of engaging in physical contact during a riot.

Creek was informed by U.S. District judge Dabney Friedrich about the maximum punishment for Creek, which is 8 years imprisonment and $250,000 fine. However federal guidelines suggest a term that ranges from 24 to 30-months.

A sentencing hearing was scheduled for March 10, according to the judge.

A Federal Bureau of Investigation report states that videos showed Creek attacking multiple police officers in the course of the riot.

According to the FBI, Creek spoke about how he was “tear gassed” at Capitol in January 6th.

Creek, during an FBI interview in May was shown video of a rioter attacking officers and “admitted” that they looked like him. However, he claimed that he had never assaulted any officer. Creek said that during the riot, he was carrying a mace and knife.

Although more than 120 defendants have pled guilty for Jan. 6, charges, less than 20 have pleaded guilty for felonies.

The Justice Department has revealed four felonies related to police assaults. At most 65 defendants are charged with using a dangerous instrument or causing bodily injury to police. According to the department, around 140 officers were attacked during the riot.

One Capitol Police officer was killed in a protest attack by demonstrators the day after. The suicide of four D.C. officers that guarded Capitol was later confirmed by the police. There were also four other rioters who died. One was killed trying to climb through a broken window within the building.
