LOS ANGELES, (Reuters) – Authorities investigating last month’s fatal shooting at the movie “Rust” are looking into whether or not recycled ammunition made it to a New Mexico stash that contained dummy bullets. Court documents were released Tuesday.

These documents contain a search warrant that allows for entry to the premises of local suppliers of ammunition and props.

Police were informed by the supplier that they believed the set of live bullets contained in the package may be “reloaded ammunition”, which he received previously from a close friend. Reloaded ammunition can be made from bullets and other recycled parts.

Halyna Hutchins the cinematographer was killed, and Joel Souza was injured when an actor Alec Baldwin’s gun accidentally fired a live shot during rehearsals on October 21.

It is still unclear how the live bullet (rather than a blank) ended up inside the gun. Investigators also discovered other live rounds on the gun.

No criminal charges were filed.

According to newly-released documents, Santa Fe sheriff’s deputies spoke with Seth Kenny about providing ammunition for “Rust” and “advise he might know where the live round came from.”

The document stated that Seth had described how, two years ago, he was given’reloaded ammunition from a friend’.

The search warrant targeted Kenny’s Albuquerque offices and storerooms. Kenny was unable to be reached Tuesday for comment.

The Sheriff’s Deputies stated that they spoke with Thell Reed as well, The father of Hannah Gutierrez and the woman in charge of the weapons on set.

Thell also works as a movie-armorer and informed them that Kenny worked on another film earlier in the year. Additionally, he supplied additional ammunition for training at a range of firearms.

Thell stated that Kenny still had some of the ammunition leftover from the movie. “Thell said that the ammunition might match what was on the Rust film set.

Crew members filed civil lawsuits against the producers for negligence in the shooting of the fatal scene.

Baldwin stated that he is devastated and will be cooperating with the investigation by law enforcement. Rust Film Productions is also conducting an investigation.
